MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER
Our older son was 6 years old when he brought home information and a donation box for children with Leukemia. At the time,
he had a piggy bank that we’ve added money to since he was a baby. The bank was big and heavy.
My 6 year old told me he was going to donate all of his money to the children because they needed our help. He emptied his
piggy bank into the donation box. He also asked my husband and I do donate, which we happily did.
The following week he came home with the same donation box asking for more money. We told him his piggy bank is empty
because he had donated everything. He wanted to know why the kids were very sick and not getting help so that they can get
better. We explained to him that our church, other organizations, and the government are helping people with needs and
people with special needs but there are lots of people who needed help. We donated more money to the charity. My children
have sickle cell traits.
I told him that he has cousins with special needs, Down Syndrome, Autism, Sickle Cell Anemia and some of them have diabetes.
I explained to him that children with sickle cell disease also need marrow treatment just like the children who have leukemia.
He said he wanted to help all the kids and not let them die. We’ve had family members die because they were unable to find
a bone marrow match.
I told him there are ways we can do more; we can help by starting a charity organization to support families with special needs. We
can all work together to help them.
Thanks to all who continue to make Center for Health Services commitment to improving the lives of children with special needs a
success. We will continue to provide education, healthcare resources, fund research and increase awareness. We provide support
and hope that will change the future for all families.
Best Regards,
